About English Literary Criticism: This didactic unit is aimed at professors and students of Literature courses in English majors, as well as to any interested reader. It is a non-exhaustive, introductory review of some of the approaches to literary criticism that have been relevant in the last century, and it contains practical exercises as well as theory of literary analysis. One of the goals of the unit is to awaken or enrich the intended audience’s enjoyment of literature and of reading in general. Another goal is to introduce the audience to different ways of approaching the literary text through theoretical principles and guidelines to the discussion of texts that enhance the reading experience. Since there are approaches not covered in this unit, the reader is encouraged to continue studying and investigating by means of the variety of sources, both in print and online, that are listed at the end of each chapter.
